There are several areas in which you can help at Hope. This page lists some opportunities with a brief description. If you are interested in participating in any of these areas, please contact the church office at 586-979-9055.
Abbey Nursing Home Visits – several members gather interested residents together most Monday mornings at 10 am for a church service.
Acolytes – aid in helping with church services and are selected from members enrolled in the Children’s confirmation class.
Agape Fund – supports seminary students and needy families in our congregation from special donations made using the monthly Love envelopes in your envelope packet.
Altar Guild – responsible for preparing the altar and elements for communion. Several teams of volunteers share the responsibility.
Banners – volunteers that design and make banners for display in the Family Life Center and Chapel.
Blood Drive – held each year in the spring and fall. Contact the Caring Servants Team or the parish nurse for more details.
Blood Pressure Check – held the second Sunday of each month. Trained members volunteer to check blood pressures.
Children’s Ministry - we have Sunday School, Children’s Church, Vacation Bible School and special events throughout the year.
Choir/Music
Angel Choir – is for any youth 5 – 9 years old. Simple harmony in groups is taught to the children in music geared for their age level. Meetings are 45 minutes one evening each week.
Celebration Singers (14 years and up) – is made up of High School through Adult people who do a blend of classical and contemporary music in three and four part harmony.
Hand Bells – you do not need to know how to read music to be in this volunteer group that meets one evening each week.
Junior Choir – for those children ages 10-13 who are more serious about singing. It is by audition only, ask our Music Director for more details.
Orchestra – if you used to play, find your horn, blow off the dust and join us.
Praise Choir – is also a choir for Adults and teens interested in signing music with a more contemporary flair before, during and after the Church Services.
Praise Band – is a band for Adults and teens interested in singing music with a more larger production.
Soloists - people with talent doing an excellent job singing Solos, Duets and Trios.
Christian Care – is a twofold volunteer group. We work as an outreach with blood drives, emergency national disaster collections, soap and quilts sent overseas. For our own congregation we do blood pressure checks, provide temporary help for special needs (transportation, baby-sitting, meal makers). Volunteers are always needed.
Church Beautification Committee – volunteers that help take care of the Church property inside and outing.
Church Picnic – scheduled on Rally Day Sunday in September each year on the church grounds. Kielbasa and hot dogs are provided; and members are asked to bring a dish to pass as members enjoy games and prizes and a midway sponsored by the Youth and Family Life teams.
Drama and Dance – opportunities are presented periodically for members to participate in plays, skits, etc.
Greeters – serve at entrances before each church service. Several teams share the responsibility for one calendar month at a time.
Habitat for Humanity – each Summer we join other churches in helping to build a home for a needy person.
MCREST (Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team) – each January we house approximately 30 homeless people in Macomb County for one week.

Parish Nursing (Jackie Bandes) – Providing supportive services to help our members remain independent in their homes.
Prayer Team – is in operation daily! To add a prayer to the list, please follow these instructions: Dial 586-979-2296 to get Hope’s Voice Mail. When the greeting begins, dial 1-5-3 for the extension for the prayer line. Then, record your prayer request. These requests will have more members praying for your need, but will not be confidential. Anyone calling this number will be able to hear your request.
Prayer Room – is staffed periodically by dedicated stewards who have access to any phone messages. Prayers left on this phone line are kept in strictest confidence within the confines of the prayer room. To call the room, push 979.6900 to leave your confidential request and have it prayed for in a confidential environment. And remember, call back to update your request with any changes.
Puppets - mainly youth who present periodic, Biblically-based skits about events in the lives of these puppets.
Shut-In Visits - are made by volunteers and deacons each month to nursing homes as well as private homes.
Singles Ministry – various activities for those over 21 are held throughout the year.
Sound System – volunteers that control the sound system during all services and make copies of the services and sermons.
Sunshine Committee – we have approximately 15 ladies who share their faith in our Risen Christ, in words of comfort, encouragement and peace. Approximately 100 cards (get well, encouragement, sympathy, birth, congratulations, thinking of you, and birthday cards for 60+) are sent out every month to members of Hope and their loved ones. We also have approximately 18 visitors who visit shut-ins, convalescent homes, hospitals and make home visits. The telephone is also a large part of our “Care Ministry.” “Sunshine” is supported by members who give so generously and through memorials.
Tract Ministry – volunteers that maintain tract handouts around the Church.
Ushers – volunteers are added for teams that are selected to serve at the same service for an entire calendar month at a time.
Vacation Bible School (VBS) – summer fun and Bible lessons for all children age 2 – 12.
Voters Assembly Meetings – held on the first Sunday of the month as follows: February – General Meeting, May – Elections, October – Ministry Reports, and December – Budget. Special meetings are called as needed.
Walking Program – adult/senior walking program each Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning during fall and winter months in our Family Life Center.
Youth Ministries – Hope Youth Ministries (HYM)
HYM Kids (5th & 6th) - A group well on its way to fun Christian fellowship.
HYM Junior (7th & 8th) - Junior High students who want to grow in the Lord. What a warm-up for HYM Senior.
HYM Senior (9th & 12th) - This growing dynamic group of Senior High students have fun, fellowship and learn of God’s love.
